First post in a long long time.

Recently participated in Singapore Polytechnic's first ever SP Masterchef competition with my awesome mate Yi Chieh!

Managed to work with some of their "homemade" ingredients and products commercialised by the students from the Diploma in Food Science and Technology (DFST), like low fat low salt sausages, their very own Yamie Rice and the all to famous Lemonsi Delight~

The ingredients didn't really feel that different from normal household ones, in fact, you can buy them from the supermarket! Texture-wise, it was mostly the same, but flavour-wise it was significantly different, with the lower amounts of salt, which makes it a healthier choice for consumers.

The Yamie rice proved to be one of a kind with many different flavours such as Chicken and Pumpkin, and preparation-wise it was super super easy. Just follow the instructions on the back of the package and you're good to go!

The final drink, Lemonsi Delight, is a cool and light refreshing lemon flavoured drink that is really enjoyable to drink. It is amazing that this product was designed by SP DFST students who are just a tad older than us!

The appetiser we made consisted of the sausages were low in fat and salt (obviously from the name), mashed potato, caramelised onions and snow peas :)

The main course was an inspired Mexican staple the Burrito. We used their Chicken Yamie Rice which was extremely easy to prepare just a simple 15 minute job in the rice cooker and BAM it’s done and ready to serve. With our own blend of salsa, ranch dressing, avocado sauce, shredded chicken and Yamie Rice we created a Burrito and served it to the judges.

Our dessert made from the product of students, the famous Lemonsi Delight, was paired with baked digestive biscuits to give it the extra crunch and a fluffy coating of egg white. (Though it didn't turn out the way we intended to, it received good reviews as a drink)

I would like to thank the organisers SP for holding this event and I feel really privileged to participate in this first ever event; the judges for risking their lives to taste amateur cooks' food and the fellow contestants for making this entire competition worthwhile! *PS THANKS TO RACHEL AND SANDRA FOR SHOPPING*
